another bag

The bag was the project for yesterday....project #8: the cars bag. This is another echino fabric from Etsuko Furuya's newest collection echino nico. We are out of the fabric at the moment, but it has been reorderd.
Today I didn't have time to sew, uh-oh, don't tell me the party is over already...oh,no, I don't give up that easily.. I will get back to the MACHINE tomorrow but today I had to work on the above photo. I have ordered and received (fabulous people to do business with by the way...farbenmix) really great ribbons from Nic Hildebrandt aka luziapimpinella and they will be put online tomorrow..so I had to photograph them and make a little category photo for them. Okay it isn't exactly sewing but I did make something.

fabric badge

Project #7: mini calaveras fabric badge
A few months ago I bought a button or badge machine. These can be pretty pricey but I must admit for once, I got lucky on ebay. This is the first fabric badge I have finally gotten around to making! I used a scrap of Alexander Henry's Mini-Calaveras Pink, (which hopefully we will be getting in again soon...) and the actual badge making is very easy and I am sure if you really get into there is no end to the fab badges you can make.

organic cotton bib

This is project #6, an all organic cotton quilted bib. The organic cottons are really soft to the feel and very pleasant to work with so I think it is a really good choice for any child's clothing or accesssory project, besides that is way cooler for the environment. (I used Graceland, Let It Grow, Sweet Jane and Surrender from Harmonyart for this bib and they can be found here.)

pillowtalk

I wanted to write more about the Dawanda meeting. First of all, I think it was a really great idea to bring all these creative minds together (and out in the open out of their creating hideaways) and I hope this will be the first of many such initiatives. I met some great really great ladies there who I hope I will see again. I think one aspect of blogging that was really stressed is the fact that when you start to blog you enter a very supportive and helpful community but only if you partake and contribute to the community. I guess basically what you sow, you reap.I wish we could have gotten a list of all those who participated along with the links to their blogs or homepages, because of course there were so many people who I didn't get a chance to talk to. The really sweet Diana of lilienstern was one of the few bloggers there I knew. She has a really nice post on the meeting in German on her blog today that you might want to check out.
Another aspect of blogging that was stressed was the marketing potential for your products at a relatively low cost through blogging, you do have the possibility to reach a large community of people who may not only share similiar interests but also be interested in your products. Both Holly and Nicole gave very good talks and the whole Dawanda team proved themselves to be very competent and attentive hosts!

make it.......

I went to the Make it! Shop it! Blog it! (not quite sure if that is the right order...)event today and it was alot of fun and very informative. Finally met Holly of decor8 fame, and she is a doll, that gal just oozes charm! She gave a great speech on blogging, it was really interesting. Nicole Hildebrandt of luziapimpanella also gave a very nice and insightful talk on her blogging experience....more on this tomorrow. Just wanted to quickly post today's project, project #4: another apron made with Alexander Henry's Las Senoritas fabric.
