MoMo "Wonderland"

As a child growing up in Japan, MoMo often found herself retreating into the caverns of her imagination where she wandered through landscapes filled with colorful, fantastical places. Now this young graphic artist has set out to redecorate the world with her patterns, colorful fantasies and childhood musings! MoMo’s designs are bold and colorful with a flare for the surreal. Prints Charming is the combined talents of Cath Derksema and Kirsten Junor. They met and worked together in the 80's at John Kaldor Fabricmaker , they went their seperate ways, hooked up again by chance and founded their beautiful printmaking company "Prints Charming".
Their style is described as fresh and modern and they also think of it as being very Australian as well.
Here are two fabrics from the newest collection for Marcus Fabrics, "Rainbow Garden". I am crazy for their bold graphics and fearless use of color!

I have been swamped with new fabric and have been busy photographing it and putting it online so I do realize this blog has been sadly neglected...SORRY! Yesterday more fabric arrived (Momo "Wonderland" & Urban Chiks "Sweet" so there is no end in sight....)
Today I wanted to show fabric from two collections that are just in, Heather Ross's "Far Far Away" and Erin McMorris's "Wildwood".
I am a fan of both of these ladies! "Wildwood" is Erin McMorris's third collection for Free Spirit and each of her collections has been quite unique. This collection has some great retro prints, (the leaf and button prints) but there is nothing retro really about her colorways, full of fuchsia, gold and lime tones!
"Far Far Away" will be, for the moment and hopefully not forever, Heather Ross's last fabric collection. Dreamy princess and the pea prints and unicorns are to be found in this collection in startingly bold colors.

museum brandhorst

On May 21, 2009 a museum housing the amazing private collection of 20th and 21st century art from Udo and Anette Brandhorst, will be opening it's doors in Münich. Being a Cy Twombly fan, this museum has a priority spot on my places to see list if only to see his series of "Rose" paintings. The museum itself(designed by Sauerbruch Hutton) looks like a huge strip quilt. The facade has 36,000 ceramic strips in varying shades of 23 different colors. Meet Miss Buttons and her pals, Miss Allsorts and Mr. Electron. These little peeps can be made by hand or machine and by young and old. Theses softie patterns were designed by Angela White of "Sew Your Own" and the photos above are from the album on her website that happy crafters willingly have on display. You can see more here.

masako tomokiyo

An exhibit of Masako Tomokiyo's textiles opened at the Galerie der CON.form in Mitte, Brunnenstr.3 on May 1st and I still haven't seen it! It is on my list of exhibits I will see before they close, though.
Masako Tomokiyo has been inspired by the East German "Plattenbaus" ( kind of concrete slab architecture) to create a series of handwoven textiles. The graphic structure of the building facades and the color schemes are re-interpreted in her very minimalistic designs.
