flagge zeigen

Some of you may not know this but today is a national holiday here in Germany "Tag der Deutschen Einheit" (Day of German Unity) and on this national holiday I thought it would be interesting to mention a flag exhibit that opened here in Berlin on Oct. 1. Here is a description that can be found on the farbwerte website:

"For this exhibition, a host of designers and artists were given the task of incorporating the German flag into artworks, thereby using this public object as a medium to illustrate a personal story or point of view. The resulting designs, photographs, illustrations, paintings and more provide a timely means of reflection in a year when Germany marks 60 years of the Bundesrepublik and 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall."

I think it sounds really interesting and thought provoking and hope to find the time to see it next week.

marigold tablecoth

This is a tablecloth I made this morning and decided to photograph while setting the table for breakfast. I used the organic cotton Marigold Persimmon. The width was perfect for our table, so I needed two meters of the fabric and only had to hem the two short sides. Easy and painless, just the way I like projects to be. Have a nice Sunday!

They make beautiful patterns and Rosalie, by the way, will be bringing out a fabric collection sometime soon. Here is the link to the "Kokeshi Stuffie".

wire hanger covers

Here is a simple but great idea, and those are the best aren't they! This is an easy to follow and easy to make tutorial for a wire hanger cover seen at design*sponge. Wire hangers basically make me crazy, they get all crazy and tangled in your closet and then to top it off, clothing doesn't even stay on them. On the other hand they are out there and I always feel guilty just throwing them away, just filling up our landfills with more stuff... so this idea of a simple cloth cover for these nasty hangers is a perfect solution. The tutorial can be found here.

rebecca's quilt

Rebecca is part of the UK "Sew" magazine team. She handles the advertising and she is such a sweetheart I bet she could get someone who isn't even interested in sewing to advertise with them, yes she is that good and that sincere about what she does. Anyway the photos above are of Rebecca's first quilt for her niece and I think she did a fab job! Sew Mag by the way is a great magazine full of inspirational projects and free patterns so if you aren't familiar with it go here and check it out! Thanks for the pics , Rebecca!
