Well it has been a long time coming but new organic cotton designer prints are now online by VOLKSFADEN. Several designers agreed to license a design to Volksfaden and these designs were then printed in India by Aura Herbal Wear. The designers are some of my faves out there: Jane Foster, Ellen Giggenbach, Hitomi Kimura, Sandra Monat (aka herzensart)and last but definitely not least Heather Moore (aka skinnylaminx)! The designs are printed on an organic cotton poplin, the fabric is 140cm, 53" wide. The dyes used are non-toxic herbal based. The fabric is ideal for clothing and or quilting.

Here are new fabrics with an aquatic theme. These fabrics are designed by Luli Sanchez for Timeless Treasures.
Here is a little info about Luli Sanchez that can be found on her website "Originally trained as a watercolorist, Cuban born Lourdes Sánchez is a New York based textile designer. Before striking out on her own, she worked for over a decade in the fashion industry, including several years at Emanuel/Emanuel Ungaro, as well as stints designing for private label and swimwear, where her hand-painted designs sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. Her prints were also widely sold throughout the U.S. and Europe to such diverse clients as Calvin Klein, The Gap, Kangol Hats, Ralph Lauren, Armani Exchange, Target, Anne Klein, and many more.

Seeking a change from Seventh Avenue, in 2004 she set up her own studio in the East Village overlooking Tompkins Square Park where she now counts among her influences the neighborhood's community gardens, fireworks over the East river, trips to the rural Carribean, and the ateliers of painter friends."

Here are fabrics from the company Classic Cottons. Classic Cottons has been producing fabric for the quilting market for the past 25 years. They also have their own in house design studio, Exclusively Quilters, and here are fabrics from their "Froggies" collection recently added to the VOLKSFADEN collection.

We are in the midst of the big thaw in Berlin, the sidewalks are visible again and it looks like the ice is finally melting! Spring is definitely in the air and I have started putting Spring collections on the VOLKSFADEN shelves. These fabrics are from BasicGrey's newest collection for Moda, "BLUSH". BasicGrey is an award-winning US based design house which creates self-branded and licensed products for the scrapbooking, fabric, and general craft industries. This collection has a most decidedly retro feel to it.

New ribbons from susalabim are in! The woman behind susalabim is Susanne Bochem. Susanne illustrates books, sews, crafts and enjoys the making of all sorts of lovely things.

Several sewing patterns have just been put on VOLKSFADEN'S virtual shelves...bags and tunics from Amy Butler ,cute skirt and dress patterns from Anna Marie Horner and pincushions from Heather Bailey...so let the creative juices flow!
