organic kids dresses

A new sub-category has been to our Organic Cotton Fabric category...."Organic Kids". Here we will be featuring organic cotton clothing for kids. We have started off with cute summer dresses for little girls...these dresses are made of fairtrade certified organic cotton for Bishopston Trading, a fairtrade company who has had a working business partnership with the village of K.V. Kuppam, India since 1985. The fabrics used are the same handloom organic cotton solids that we also sell.

who knows tomorrow

yinka shonibare

"Who Knows Tomorrow" is the name of a project currently curated by the National Gallery here in Berlin. Five internationally acclaimed African artists have been invited to create works in four separate venues in Berlin laying bare forgotten or often overlooked cross ties between Africa and Europe, past, present and future. One of my favorite artists, Yinka Shonibare, has an installation in the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche. Here is a link to the website about the exhibit in German and English.

ogchemises

Ludo Meyers sent me a link to his blog, ogchemises where he displays his collection of exquisitely tailored men's shirts. By choosing the fabrics discerningly and giving utmost attention to the creation of the product, their wish is to instill a soul and poetry into the piece of clothing. The shirts are made by talented artisans in France and Belgium. Really lovely.
The shirts can be ordered by sending Ludo an email. The blog is in French but Ludo speaks flawless English so if you would like to know more about him and his collection and you don't speak French , you can always drop him a line at ogchemises@gmail.com.

make it perfect

Several new "Make it Perfect" patterns are in now at volksfaden. These patterns are designed by Toni Coward who lives down under, by the beach in Tasmania, Australia. (Sigh)Her patterns are easy enough for a beginner but the results are pretty and professional. One of the new patterns has an art smock, pencil roll and library bag, all very useful items for next September! Am also loving this Kaftan, and hope some day soon it will be possible to wear something like this without a wool sweater over it.......
