Fabrics from Heather Ross's Far Far Away II collection are now on our virtual shelves...
These fabrics are 80% Linen, 20% Cottons and could very well be used for clothing and or projects that require a somewhat heavier fabric, like seat cushions or bags.

Fabrics from the latest echino collection are now online by volksfaden! More colorways and prints are expected in July but here are some of the fabrics from the first shipment. I have been a fan of the woman who designs the echino collections, Etsuko Furuya, for years so I am always excited to get new fabric of hers in. I love her bold graphic style and obvious sense of humor.

These are so soft and cozy, they would make great baby blankets, or maybe a super soft wrap for kids after they have spent all day swimming and the evening air is starting to cool down and they need something warm and cozy...the fabrics are even on sale this weekend due to the Free Spirit sale currently going on at volksfaden....

Hot off the press and just flown in from Austria, let me introduce an awesome new magazine for big and small alike.......kleinformat. I just unpacked them and put them online and I am very impressed....congrats Dolores you did a fabulous job! I love the fact that so many European artists are featured, not exclusively but the emphasis is definitely on talent this side of the pond, and I think that is great. Dolores has a blog where you can keep abreast of what she is up to and there you can also read about the whole birthing process of kleinformat.

organic kids dresses

A new sub-category has been to our Organic Cotton Fabric category...."Organic Kids". Here we will be featuring organic cotton clothing for kids. We have started off with cute summer dresses for little girls...these dresses are made of fairtrade certified organic cotton for Bishopston Trading, a fairtrade company who has had a working business partnership with the village of K.V. Kuppam, India since 1985. The fabrics used are the same handloom organic cotton solids that we also sell.

who knows tomorrow

"Who Knows Tomorrow" is the name of a project currently curated by the National Gallery here in Berlin. Five internationally acclaimed African artists have been invited to create works in four separate venues in Berlin laying bare forgotten or often overlooked cross ties between Africa and Europe, past, present and future. One of my favorite artists, Yinka Shonibare, has an installation in the Friedrichswerdersche Kirche. Here is a link to the website about the exhibit in German and English.
