Zenchic is the name of Brigitte Heitland's company. Ms. Heitland was born in the Black Forest of Germany and when she could reach the pedals on the sewing machine, her grandma taught her how to sew! She went on to study textile design and eventually discovered quilting. She creates patterns for quilts and has been designing her own fabrics for years for Moda Fabrics. The fabrics pictured above are from our collection of Ms. Heitland's "Figures" fabrics. These lovely graphic prints in summery salmons, saffron and linen whites can be found by Volksfaden here.

Amy Ellis is a prolific quilter. She has published four quilting books, has been included in six collaboration books, writes a regular column in Quilty and designs fabric for Moda Fabrics. She sells her quilt patterns in her online shop and Crafts. She has been blogging for six years and founded the Blogger's Quilt Festival. The festival takes place two times a year, anyone can enter and all styles are welcome, so if quilting is your thing this might be something you want to check out.
The quilts pictured above are a few of Amy's quilts using her collection "Modern Neutrals". We have some of the fabrics out of this collection for Moda by Volksfaden, I love the muted colors and her coolgraphic designs! Our "Modern Neutrals" collection can be found here.

Have y'all seen this new book "Kreativ Reise Berlin"? Several ladies have wandered into Volksfaden with book in hand, using it as their guide to the creative hotspots in Berlin...and we are tickled pink to have been included! Thank you Franziska and Bianka! The book is awesome...the ladies take you on a tour of "creative" Berlin, neighborhood by neighborhood, pointing out alot of hidden gems and places that I will be definitely checking out soon! We have ordered the book for the shop and should have it up on our shelves soon!

We recently started selling Schnittreif patterns and several customers have raved about the Ameland dress pattern, so I decided to sew up the little version of the dress, kleinAmeland! Et voilá, here you have the result! I used two fabrics from the newest Soft Cactus collection, (they can be found here) and opted for bias binding around the neck instead of the interfacing. The pattern makes up fast and the German directions are easy to follow. If you have never put a zipper in, you might want to check out a zipper tutorial on Youtube, or another online option, because this process is not described in detail, so definitely an easy sew for beginning sewers with some experience.
