violetta textiles
I am very happy to announce a collaboration with a friend and former colleage of mine, Ulrike Nägele.
A few months ago Ulrike called me and told me that after looking at the fabrics at volksfaden, she had an idea.
Ulrike is a costume designer and teaches at a school for design in Münich. She has always been interested in the traditional German dress, the dirndl, and has done quite a bit of research on different variations and designs of traditional German clothing. So she decided to make traditionally designed clothing with a twist, using fabric that is completely nontraditional. She created her own children's clothing label "violetta textiles" and began to sew. She chooses the fabric (from volksfaden by the way) and sews each piece of clothing herself. Each dirndl is unique.
She has already expanded her line to include whimsical shirts for boys and dreamy pantsuits for girls. Ulrike is not into mass production ,though, each piece of clothing will be either unique or offered in a limited quantity.
Ulrike's first collection by volksfaden can be found here
