Named Sewing Patterns

We have some new sewing patterns for the ladies from the Finnish company "Named" in the shop. I like the text they wrote about themselves on their website so I thought I would share it here.

"Named is a Finnish clothing pattern label founded by sisters Saara and Laura Huhta. The story of Named started from the dream of turning a passion into a career, designing their own collection of clothing patterns felt like a natural way to implement both sisters’ love for clothes, fashion, design and DIY. The duo wants to encourage fellow fashion lovers to give sewing their own garments a try.
Named garments are a combination of Scandinavian clean-lined simplicity and interesting details. The aim of the collections is to bring a new perspective to making one’s own clothes and to support ethical and ecological consuming in contrast to a clothing industry focused on fast fashion. Self-made clothing also allows for freedom of choice; by choosing one’s colors and materials and by changing garment details, the customer can be part of the design process. If dressing is a way to express oneself then self-made clothes are self-expression at its best."

dixie diy

The  photo above pictures several free sewing patterns you can find at dixie diy. Dixie is a hip, young seamstress who works part time in a fabric store in Austin, Texas and drafts her own sewing patterns which she either sells in her shop or is kind enough to offer them to us for free. Go Dixie!

L'enfant roi

We have some lovely new French sewing patterns in from L'enfant roi. L'enfant roi is the brainchild of Elodie Bunuel, a designer of children's clothing who is now offering some of her classic designs for the home sewer. The directions are in French but they are illustrated, so if you have a certain amount of sewing experience, these should be easy to follow, even if you don't speak French and then, of course, there is always google translate as a last resort! We are going to be sewing up some of these patterns in the future, and we will be sure to share the results. The patterns can be found here.

Elodie Bunuel ist eine Designerin von Kinderbekleidung, die jetzt einige ihrer klassischen Designs als Schnittmuster anbietet. Die Anleitungen sind auf Französisch, aber bebildert, so dass, wenn Sie etwas Näh-Erfahrung haben, (und auch wenn Sie kein Französisch sprechen) die Schnittmuster gut folgen können, Google Translate gibt es auch noch! Wir werden uns auch an der Nähmaschine setzen und die Schnittmuster ausprobieren und die Ergebnisse bald zeigen!  Die Schnittmuster können hier gefunden werden.

The sweetest kids clothing patterns from a Danish company, minikrea, have just been put on our virtual shelves. I love the clean simple lines of these patterns, the fact that no zippers are involved in the making and that most patterns are suitable for even novice sewers. The patterns can be found here....
I also have reorganized the patterns section, dividing the patterns into three categories, Adults, Kids & Quilts which hopefully make it a little easier to find what you are looking for.
